Dr. Venkatesh Lakshman, M.D., MSc.

Venk Lakshman, M.D., MSc., completed his training in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. He graduated medical school from the University of London, in England. He is board certified in Gastroenterology. He is a Harvard Macy Education Scholar and continues to teach in Boston, when time permits.

He has practiced medicine in England, New Zealand and has volunteered his time on self funded medical mission trips to Zimbabwe and Malawi, Africa.

He has been practicing gastroenterology since 1994, 25 years so far.

He has been in Wilson for 15 yrs and has been invited by the president of Barton College to the join the steering committee for the Wilson 2020 project to help oversee future development and growth in Wilson.

He was Chairman of the Dept of Medicine at Wilson Medical Center and Division Chief.

He was the first to bring office based endoscopy to Wilson NC.

His practice remains independent and is not hospital-owned.

He is married and has one son.

In his free time, he enjoys gardening, woodworking ( see images below for one year project), boating, fishing and flying ( including RC helicopters).
